NEW Running Experience Alert - What is the Run to Escape Series?

In a year when running races took a virtual turn, things may have started to feel a bit. . .well. . .stale.  Yes, the medals and the swag are cool and the convenience of running races on my time in my neighborhood certainly has some benefits, but I'm always excited to try something new.  With that in mind, I was super excited to try the Run to Escape Series - Mission Mt. Olympus.  The new running experience is unlike anything else and as I'm in the early stages of completing my mission now, I have to say it's an enjoyable change of pace!

Disclaimer: I received a free entry to the Run to Escape Series - Mission Mt. Olympus as part of being a BibRave Pro. Learn more about becoming a BibRave Pro (ambassador), and check out BibRave.com to review find and write race reviews!

What is Run to Escape Series - Mission Mt. Olympus?

The Run to Escape Series is a new running experience created by my friends at BibRave combining two popular activities - running and escape rooms.  Here's how it works!  When you register, you begin receiving emails from Hermes.  He'll give you the rundown of how to connect to RunKeeper and load your first run into the app.  You HAVE to use the RunKeeper app while running as the whole audio experience is powered through that platform.  As you run, a different Greek god will join you on each run and deliver messages, clues, and puzzles.  Once your run is complete, you can use what you've learned to tackle a final puzzle.  Found the answer?  Great!  Go back to the registration for the race and use the answer to "unlock" your next run.  And it starts all over again!

The storyline for this experience is focused around Atalanta - the Greek goddess of running who is trying to join the 12 gods on Mt. Olympus.  She is seeking help from you to obtain her seat by proving that mortals and gods can work together.  The script writing is a fun and original spin on some familiar greek gods.

What do you "get" when you register for the Run to Escape Series?

This running experience is just that - an experience.  It's different than a traditional virtual race in that you won't receive swag - medal, shirt, etc.  Part of the design behind this was to create a "green" experience and to focus on the joy of running.  You know me, I like the medals and swag, but I honestly haven't been missing them during this experience.  You also aren't just getting one run.  The runner is getting six runs in this experience totaling around 27 miles with individual distances ranging from 5K to 10K.  The price for the experience is $75, but you can save 10% using my code BIBRAVE10.  I've completed two of the six runs so far and can say it's a totally different way to run.  I've enjoyed the puzzles both during and after the run and the audio is pretty funny - it helps to pass the miles.  I think one of the biggest things for me is the added motivation to get out and rack up the miles.  I can't wait to see where the adventure takes us!  Want to know more?  There is a great episode that recently released on the BibRave Podcast with so many details into the creation of this experience!

As far as what you need to run - you will need to download the RunKeeper app and set up a free account.  All of the audio for your runs is played through the app while running.  Miss something?  Don't worry - you'll have access to the audio after the run as well to go back and listen again.  But you don't have to worry about missing a beat if you're wearing your AfterShokz headphones.  I have LOVED mine since I won them almost a year and a half ago in a Twitter chat and they also happen to be one of the sponsors of the experience.  Knockaround is another sponsor of the series - approved by none other than Apollo the sun god himself!

Stay tuned to my Instagram for more updates as I complete this running experience and I can't wait to see more of what BibRave has in store for future Run to Escape series events!
